Crock Pot Roast

Cooking a roast in the crock pot makes for a very easy dinner!  Put everything in the crock pot before church, or work, or just earlier in the day and you wont have to worry about dinner.

Roast in the crock pot is something that's hard to mess up.
Personally I like to quickly brown the roast in a frying pan on both sides to get it a good little caramelizing and add flavor while it cooks in the crock pot.  But that's totally optional- I've put the raw roast into the crock pot without browning and it still tastes great.

Once you put your roast in the crock pot you can season and cook it a bunch of different ways- 2 of my favorite ways are:
add 1-2 cans of cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
1 packet of onion soup mix

(this is how I did it this time for these pictures)
add 3/4 c. water
dried onions
garlic & herb seasoning
beef bullion
(you can pretty much put any seasonings you like on it- Worcestershire, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning etc)
Cook on low for 6-8 hours
or on High for 2-3 hours

Sometimes I will add in sliced potatoes and carrots for the last hour.
Great served with potatoes and veggies!
