We were recently given the opportunity to review the new Rango Video Game. Ours was on the wii. Although it says the ages are E 10+ my almost 6 year old has loved it as much as the rest of us! It's cute little narrative movie like clips explaining the story and what part of the game you are at are entertaining and fun for the younger kids to watch.
My husband liked the "wild west" aspects of it with traditional gun shooting- you even have to reload your gun.
I'm not sure about other game consoles, but for the wii you use the controller to aim where you want to shoot- which can be tricky! But the target you use to aim with turns red when it's on something you want to shoot, and it gets an X in it when you need to reload.
The western desert atmosphere is really fun, my only regret is some screens are pretty dark and hard to see where things are (but that may just be a setting I need to fix). There's cute western background music throughout the game that creates the feeling of being in a western movie.
As with any new game it takes a little practice to learn how to maneuver and do things, but it's fun trying! It's a one player game, although you can save 3 different accounts.
If you liked the movie, you'll enjoy this game!!

About RANGO
From the director of Pirates of the Caribbean comes RANGO, featuring Johnny Depp in an original animated comedy-adventure that takes moviegoers for a hilarious and heartfelt walk in the Wild West. The story follows the comical, transformative journey of Rango (Depp), a sheltered chameleon living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis. After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in? When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt – a lawless outpost populated by the desert’s most wily and whimsical creatures – the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt . . . until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be. With a cast that includes Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant as the Spirit of the West, Rango is an exciting new twist on the classic Western legend of the outsider who saves a town – and himself in the process.
