Since my sister has cherry trees with plenty of cherries we had some to bottle!
I put my kids to work pitting the cherries- you can buy cherry pitters according to how many you're doing such as these:
once all the seeds are removed fill sterilized jars with the cherries.
Boil a syrup- you can make anything from a light to heavy syrup according to your taste. Syrup is just water and sugar boiled until the sugar has dissolved. For my cherries I did: 3 c. sugar and 5 c. water- which is a medium syrup.
Fill each jar with the hot syrup to 1/4 inch from the top. Process in a water bath canner for 25 mins.
These are great for pies- They look so pretty too!
