Cereal Deal using Coupons

OK, if you listened to the radio show (live or archived): Coupons, saving money or wasting time?  in part 2 I talked about this awesome cereal deal I got at Smiths.  Here's the details-


Smiths had the cereal on sale- the sale was basically for every 4 boxes you bought you got $6 off which made the cereal $1.49/box

(pretty good price for cereal, but we can do better!)

I had coupons that were $1 off 3 boxes.  Bringing the per box total down to about $1.16/box

(nice! can we add more? Yes we can!)

Smith's website had online coupons that I could upload to my fresh values card.  They had one for 75 cents off 1 box of cocoa puffs, and one for 50 cents off a box of lucky charms.  I loaded those to my card and got those coupons taken off automatically when I checked out!

At the end of the trip I got 24 boxes (remember you want to buy them in increments that match the sales/coupons.  Since Smith's sale was for every 4 boxes, and my coupons were for every 3 boxes, the best value was to get at least 12 boxes.  Since we go through a lot I got 24 )

My total was: $27.28
