Milky Way Cake

We were going to make the Million Dollar cake- you know the one with sweetened condensed milk, cool whip and crushed candy bars on top.  But we didn't have any sweetened condensed milk, so we improvised and made a Milky Way Cake instead- BIG HIT!
Bake a chocolate cake according to the box directions-  My 11 year old daughter made this one and substituted applesauce instead of oil like we usually do.
Once the cake is cool, poke holes along the top-

Next drizzle some caramel sauce on top of the cake making sure it goes down into the holes.

Then frost with cool whip, sprinkle cut up milky way candy bars on top and drizzle with more caramel.
