Stratosphere Las Vegas

I had the experience of staying at the Las Vegas Stratosphere while attending the ABC Kids Expo for a few days.  You may want to think twice before booking a room there after reading my experience.
The hotel is located on the Las Vegas Strip- which, easy to find, but also scary looking part of town.
I was not a happy camper to learn that after driving for 8 hours in comfy clothes- basically my pj's, I had to park, then walk through the parking garage, and then through the entire casino to register.  Then I had to walk back through the casino to the elevator and to my room.  After 8 hours a travel in less than attractive attire combined with no make-up and hair thrown into a pony tail I was not impressed.  (as I'm sure was the same for anyone that saw me!)  - Strike 1

I got the room booked through priceline.  I paid $75 and change for 3 nights.  Not too bad I thought, until I arrived at the hotel to find an extra $16/night hotel fee. :/  Little did I know until checking out 3 days later that the resort fee gave me and 3 guests free access to the 150 story tower.  I probably would have gone up it had I of known. Strike 2

I get to the room and go to the bathroom first thing.  The toilet and tub/shower are in their own room which is so small in order to close the door you would practically have to walk around and behind the toilet.  The silver lining is that since I'm in the room by myself I can leave the door open and realized later that I could even watch TV while on the potty- which may be a bonus to men.  So let's call this one a- Foul Ball

After settling into the room I set up my laptop to check messages to find that they want me to pay $12 PER DAY for internet service! - Strike 3

As I go to call a manager to see what can be done about the additional unexpected fee's I notice my phone is missing some buttons......... that's high class there.   I'm informed that I have to turn on the TV to get a code for the internet- ummmm that's not written anywhere in the room or was told to me at the desk, nice communication.... not.  So in going to turn the TV on I notice that the battery cover to the remote controller is missing..........  This hotel is looking less and less like a nice classy hotel room and more and more like a bates motel.  I'll make sure to bolt the door when I shower!

I don't know why- but the lamp over the table reminded me of the movie Terminator........ maybe I was just bias by this point.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the tv on the dresser- the TV covered literally half of the mirror on the wall behind the dresser.  It did look like they had recently upgraded the TV or something by the holes left in the dresser.

In all fairness when I called the front desk, one of the managers gave me a 2 day credit for internet the day I arrived.  Then after more complaining when I checked out they also waived the resort fee for my entire stay.

This experience has confirmed that Priceline can not be trusted to provide quality hotels.  I've had other experiences with priceline where I thought I was getting a good deal to only find out that the hotel was under construction and dirty/loud, or other inconveniences.  This was supposed to be a 3 star hotel, but I've been in 2 star hotels that were nicer.  Needless to say I don't think I will be using priceline any more in the future.  There are enough competing discount travel places such as Hotwire, Expedia and Travelocity to replace them.  Sorry William Shatner, maybe you can switch as well.
