When I saw this idea on Pinterest I knew I HAD to make it! I love how the wooden block Nativity is a "kid proof" way to display the Nativity in our house. I was able to find 2 different free downloads of pictures so I made 2 different sets.
The original idea was from Simply Fresh Designs and she is also the one that provided the free downloads of the pictures on the blocks above. Plus her website has lots of other super cute ideas and free downloads!
My second set came from Smart Girls DIY where she has a whole page of cute and free Nativity project ideas. This specific Nativity picture set I got from one she shared on her page (yes that means you're getting this like 3rd hand) The pictures for my blocks below were a free download from Happy Home Fairy. They were made to be cards, but hey- I can work with that!
These blocks were made on a 1x4 so they were lighter and thinner. I think I will turn these into ornaments for our Nativity tree this year. Plus there's a really cute saying/quote that goes to each picture- I put them on the back of the blocks.

Question: When you printed the pictures from simply fresh designs did you print them on plain paper or did you use photo paper? Or prints from like Costco? Also, how did you glue them on the wood? Did you modge podge over the top? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide. I'm doing these for a Super Saturday craft event at church and need a little more direction for my crafty challenged brain.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions! All of the pictures I printed off myself with my own printer at home. I printed them on normal paper, but my friend that made them with me printed hers on cardstock and those did so much better! My plain paper ones went a little wrinkled when I used the Modge Podge where hers didn't.
DeleteTo attach them to the block we cut them slightly smaller than the block, put some modge podge on the block to hold them in place, then modge podge on top of them to seal/protect them and give a little shine to them.

Mine did not. Had them printed at Kinkos on good cardstock. Worked great.
DeleteIt seems to run slightly when using paper vs card stock. I used paper and mine only ran slightly if I over brushed them with the mod podge.
DeleteIs there a length to cut the blocks to or a few lengths? I was going to have someone else cut my blocks for me
