Over Thanksgiving we went out of town to visit family and stayed at a Hampton Inn hotel. This is my review from this experience. Staying in a hotel with kids is always an adventure. And maybe it's just the mom or germ-a-phobe in me but I'm usually grossed out to some extent.
(I'm not being paid or have received anything to write this review- although I would LOVE to start reviewing hotels and travel companies more)
We reserved this hotel through priceline with their name your own price. I think the normal rate for this hotel is $70/night, we got our room for $36 plus the taxes and fees which made the total cost just over $48
When we got to the Hampton Inn Hotel it was early evening. The desk attendant was friendly an quick to check us in, however she was either in a hurry to get us to leave or just not through as she didn't give us any directions where our room was, or what floor. I had to ask, and then when her short quick answer wasn't clear I asked again to clarify and she seemed to lose patience. Customer service training updates for employees may be a good idea. Sometimes when WE do something every day and know the building we assume other people know what we do- but it's a hotel, there's going to be new people there for the first time every day.
So we unloaded the car and went up the elevator to our room. (elevators are ALWAYS entertaining for our kids so that was a plus) Our room was on the 4th floor which was fine.
When we went into the room my first thoughts were how clean it was. That's ALWAYS a good thing at a hotel! I noticed even the carpet was cleaner than any I had ever seen in a hotel before, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels.
Our room had 2 double (full) beds. But trying to sit on the end of either bed was more like a ride down a slide to the floor. Needless to say they were not the ideal beds for sitting on or for more than one person. If you were sleeping in one bed by yourself (which is what my hubby ended up doing) and could sleep in the middle of the bed it was comfortable, but not practical for us.
The rest of the hotel furniture was nice, functional, and what we expected based on the pictures online.
The bathroom was AMAZINGLY clean- I was very impressed! Plus there was a long counter with the sink and even the complementary soaps and shampoo were Neutrogena brand. That was impressive to see a name brand product instead of a generic hotel version.
The internet worked fine, we logged on easily and didn't have any problems with it.
The complementary breakfast the next morning was ok. Depending on what you ate it was either good or bad. For example, the danish's were great, but the bagels were hard as a rock.
Checkout was smooth and easy as I just handed our room keys to the front desk attendant and she asked how our stay was.
Overall I was impressed with this hotel and would definitely stay there again as well as recommend it to others.
