If you've had a baby you probably have at least 3 of these baby changing mats or pads- whichever you call them. They come with every diaper bag, hospital's hand them out, and if you're like me yours rarely get used because frankly it's just easier to use the blanket you already have handy. So what do you do with all these changing mats? They usually match your stuff and seem like they'd be a waste to just throw away, but there's got to be some useful purpose for them! This is one idea I came up with.
I took one of the changing mats and sewed 2 strips of ribbon along it and also sewed on some ribbon tabs in loops with it.
And now we have a travel play mat! Toys can attach to the ribbon loops and since the mat is already made to roll up it rolls up for easy storage, or even to wrap around something such as the handle on the car seat while driving!
Cost? Well since I already had everything to make it for me it was FREE, but if you needed to buy the ribbon you're probably looking at $1-4 depending on how many different styles/sizes you want to use. It wouldn't take even a full spool of one so you'd have leftovers for other projects.
