Clorox Automatic Bowl Cleaner

Since it's Saturday and the official big clean day of the week I though I'd share my favorite bathroom cleaners with you.  This first post is about the Clorox Automatic Bowl Cleaner tablets.  I LOVE these!! You put one tablet in the back tank of your toilet and it lasts for about a month or so.  It's great at keeping away build up, and keeps the bowl white and clean.

It's especially great for my kids bathroom, since it's their chore to clean their own bathroom daily, I don't have to worry about them handling chemicals, or wasting the cleaner etc.  They just get a regular old toilet brush and can brush the inside a bit.  Since the Clorox tablet is in the tank and always flushing in the bowl it does the rest!

The only problem I have had with these is OCCASIONALLY- and I mean really like only 5-6 times in a year, the tablet will slide over by the trap in the tank so it will make the toilet run until you go in and move the tablet back to a corner.  But really it hasn't been a big enough problem that I even worry about it.

  1. Thought I would just add my 2 cents :)
I have a neighbor friend that is a plumber and he advised to never ever use these because eventually they will corrode parts of the plumbing system and you'll need major repairs done. He says he see's it quite often....Just fyi!

  2. DOH! well that's good to know! I wonder if it makes a difference steel pipes vs pvc?
Thanks for the heads up! Guess I'll be switching back to my scrubbing bubbles cleaner... which is still good- but that means I have to deal with the icky toilet water! :D

  3. Hmmm....We have PVC pipes so I imagine he was referring to that, but I can't be for sure that it won't do anything to the steel either...I'll ask him next time I see him!
