What to do to keep your kids busy this Summer! Have a not-bummer-summer! Here are some ideas for fun things to do this Summer.
Charts &
Schedules- Make sure to use these or you will go insane!
Clean/organize
house- chore lists, this is a great way to motivate kids to do chores in order to get to do fun stuff.
Library
reading- most library's have a storybook time and sometimes offer crafts or activities as well.
Movie
Theatre- see if there's a PTA fundraiser movie program in your area. Otherwise, dollar movies are fun for kids and cheap for parents.
Specific
days- “water day” “painting day” “play dough day” “craft day” “games day” - declare your own holiday, or make one day a week a specific day dedicated to a theme.
Make your own movie theatre at home- popcorn, soda, treats, and a more comfortable place to sit!
Hikes- or even a scenic walk.
Swimming
Pool- my sister in law said it's considered child abuse to not take your kids to the pool in the Summer! :D
Scenic Drive- if you can afford the gas, go somewhere and do a treasure hunt. Make a list of things for the kids to find or see out the window. (cows, trash can, rock bigger than them, etc)
Camping
(even in the back yard)- something about not sleeping in your own bed appeals to kids. Even if you set up a tent in the living room.
Picnic in
the park- kids play, you and your hubby eat.
Free lunch
at the park- contact your local school district to see if your area offers free lunch at the park for kids.
Where to find more info: local facebook groups, extension office, city
web page or offices, movie theatre, school district office, and bulletin boards.
