Our movie theatre room is one room that every few weeks or so becomes such a disaster that we (meaning I) have to spend a day cleaning & organizing it again. There must be something missing in children's brains that prevents them from putting things away. DVD's not in a case- or in the right case, and piled up on the Blu-ray or DVD player is one of my pet peeves!! You'd think my kids would get it by now.
With all the craziness lately (5 exchange students staying with us & Summer time) it shows my lack of parenting, or better yet my allowing movies to babysit my kids so I can do the millions of things that need to get done.
With everything going on I keep forgetting to take "before" pictures of projects!!! Luckily we do have the exchange students from Tiawan right now, and as with the traditional Asian sterio-type they love taking pictures! So I was able to get a before picture from one of them.
As you can see he was more focused on the TV than the DVD mess. But you get the point. See what I mean?!!? DVD's all over the floor, the cheap DVD stands we had were so dumb if a DVD fell over chances are it'd fall through the 3 bars made to hold it while standing and land on the pile of previous DVD victims. What a mess!! And believe it or not, this mess does get cleaned up every week or two!
At this point I have had enough!! When I saw one of the cheap bookcases on sale in a store ad it was like destiny. $26 and the problem could be solved. (or at least it BETTER be!)
After getting a black bookcase and assembling it myself (because otherwise it'd take my hubby weeks to get around to it and I'd probably end up doing it myself anyway- love him but we have different priorities lol) I then seperated all the movies to adult or kid/family friendly and alphabetized all of them. Here's the result- Love it! hope it lasts!
