Fuzzi Bunz Diaper Review

It seems that using cloth diapers have been a big thing again the past couple of years and there are a lot of people trying it out.  So I was excited to have the chance to review the Fuzzibunz cloth diaper system. (I'm calling it a system because it's more unique than I've seen before)  Now keep in mind, this is my 5th baby and I have NEVER used a cloth diaper before so I was a little nervous for reasons you can guess.

First let me show you the diaper system-
The diaper has multiple snaps that make it a one size fits all and also comes with adjustable elastic so you can literally use this diaper from birth to potty training.  The "system" I referred to earlier is these inserts next to the diaper.  Much like a maxi pad for women on their periods all you do is swap out the insert instead of changing the whole diaper.  The pads are super soft and when I was rinsing one out I was surprised at how absorbent they are. This is such a cool idea!!

So here was my first fitting on my baby Addie-
Having never tried cloth diapers I was a little worried about a couple of things..... first and foremost- poopy diapers, and secondly leaking.
When I went to put the cloth diaper on she had already pooped so I thought I was in the clear......... but as babies like to do she had a couple surprises in store for me!  I ended up experiencing 2 poopy diapers with the fuzzibunz.  They really weren't as bad as I had imagined.  Since I wasn't throwing away a diaper I didn't have anything to put the dirty wipes inside- and that was my biggest dilemma (no big deal right?)  As for the poop- most of it came right off the insert into the toilet and the rest was easily rinsed off in the sink.  It really wasn't that bad.  As for the changing itself swapping out the insert pad was easy.
Once I rinsed out the insert I put it in my laundry room to be washed.  Even though it was easy and didn't take very much time, I can see that it would be more of an inconvenience if you were out and about rather than at home.  Otherwise it takes about the same amount of time as changing a disposable diaper and taking it out to the trash.

As for leaking- I was surprised and even kept checking throughout the day that she wasn't leaking.  It wasn't until she had been wearing the second insert for about 7-8 hours that I noticed a little leaking by her legs.  (mostly I let her go this long to see if it would leak)

Overall the experience was fun and now I know it's not that bad.  Will I switch over completely? most likely no. But I would like to get some more of these for emergency situations/food storage, and perhaps to use occasionally.

  1. Good Morning JoDee! I read this post yesterday, but totally forgot to comment! I love the idea of cloth diapers (obviously I don't have kiddos) but my husband and I agreed that if we do get to have babies, we will give them a solid try. I read up quite a bit about them on Katie's & Sherry's blogs and decided it would be worth a try one day. If you haven't read their posts, I put the links to them below. And if you've never heard of them... They are both awesome bloggers, like you! :)

Anyway - congrats on reaching 50K page hits! Very exciting!!!

  2. Thanks Sheena! I'll check out their blogs :)

There's been so many new ideas with cloth diapers- I remember as a kid they used to be cloth with pins to hold them on and a plastic cover. (none of that could have been comfortable!) But now they have snaps, velcro, and I really like these fuzzibunz where you just change out the pad part.
