Homemade Pumpkin Puree

Now that Halloween is over it's time to use up those pumpkins! This year I knew I wanted to try making my own pumpkin puree so I didn't let the kids carve the pumpkins, but instead had them color on them with markers.  Now it's time to use them up.  I've never done this before, but it was pretty easy and has a lot of uses I'm excited for.
First I cut up the pumpkin into chunks (removing the seeds), then placed it into my steamer for about 15 minutes

After it was cooked soft I let it cool off for a few minutes so it didn't burn my hands.

At this point the pumpkin scooped out pretty easily and I put it into my Kitchen Aid mixer and mixed it until it was smooth.  Then I placed it into freezer size quart bags, labeled them and popped them into my freezer! Easy Cheesy!

I know that you can bottle or can pumpkin as well- but it has to be done in a pressure canner and you aren't supposed to puree it- but can it in chunks.  I just didn't try that this time.
I did however put some puree into a ice cube tray and froze it for more homemade baby food! Addie loves it!
