Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer original book review

If you've ever played the game "telephone" where one person whispers something into someone's ear then it's passed along from person to person you know that by the time it reaches the end the message is usually a distorted version of what it started out as.  I found that to be true when reviewing this book Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, it's the original story from 1939 with original illustrations even.  Here are some of the differences I noticed-


First I have to say how cute the whole story is with it's 2 line rhyming.  It's interesting to see some of the words that were used and rhymed such as "Muddy" and "nicknamed Ruddy".  There were some phrases and words that reminded me of things my grandparents would say such as "sorrier".  One of the big differences I found with this story is how it repeated multiple times about the seriousness of the weather and the importance of getting presents to the children.

Rudolph goes to bed, and his family sleeps in beds and has a house just as humans would.  Santa is struggling to deliver gifts in the dark when he comes across Rudolph sleeping in his bed and realizes how his shining nose would help.  So Santa wakes Rudolph up, explains the need for help, and Rudolph then leaves a note for his parents to let them know he has gone to help Santa.

The pictures are even the original ones from the 1939 book.  This book is a quick easy read that I'm sure your kids will enjoy at Christmas time!
