Freezing Green Onions

When I saw this idea on Pinterest I knew it HAD to be tried!!  There are so many recipes that I love green onions in- and it seems they are a pivital part to making the recipe taste better.  Yet for some reason we just don't go through them very fast, and I hate it when you need green onions for
one of those recipes that just aren't the same without them (enchiladas, tuna sandwiches etc) and you are either out or they are old and no good.  So this was a ingenious idea!!

All you do is chop up your green onions and then place them in a freezable container.  The pinterest picture I saw had them in a water bottle, but I'm a Tupperware snob (no I just have TONS that I've got for free so any excuse to use it is great in my book).  So I put mine in a Tupperware round container with a shaker top.

I was a little nervous about how they'd turn out after being frozen, but we used them last night and it was AWESOME!!  Not only did it save me prep time while making the meal- because all the onions were already chopped, but they tasted great and just as fresh as if I had bought them at the store that day!

After trying this experiment I will never be going back to storing green onions in my fridge again!
