Cleaning Microfiber

I LOVE having microfiber couches with kids! They clean up so easily.  Life has been crazy lately and I haven't taken the time to give our couches a good cleaning like they needed and this is what the arms of the couches looked like.  The cushions can be washed in the washing machine (not in the dryer though) but washing the other parts of the couches like the arm rest can be a bit more tricky.
When I purchased the couches a few years ago my friend at the furniture store told me that rubbing alcohol works great for cleaning micro fiber.  I had used it before with a wash cloth when one of my kids used a marker on my tan chair and it did work.  But using a wash cloth can be a little tricky.

Recently I saw this idea on pinterest to use a dish scrubber with the rubbing alcohol to get stains out of microfiber- the dish scrubber was about $2 at the store.  I poured a little rubbing alcohol in a bowl and dipped the brush into it then started scrubbing. I used a towel to go over the arm every once in awhile to help pick up the dirt. The results were night and day!!

The only thing is once you start it can be hard to tell what areas are clean & wet, or dirty.  So it got to a point where I needed to let the fabric dry so I could tell what was left needing to be cleaned.  So it's a cleaning that is best done in stages.
Here is the before/after from 1 time of cleaning.

You can see there are still a few small areas I need to go over again, but it's a big difference already!
