You've probably seen this Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe on pinterest and I hope you pinned it because let me just say heavenly deliciousness!! This was really easy to make and all my family loved it. Here's the recipe below, where I got it from, and what I did different.
This is the what I did for my family of 7, the original recipe can be found here.
- 4 chicken breasts cut into manageable sizes (for my kids- about 3 inches)
- 6 slices of ham lunch mean, cut up
- 1 package of sliced Swiss cheese
Layer the chicken, ham and cheese into your 9x13 pan.
Next make the sauce-
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 4 Tablespoons Flour
- 3-¼ cups Milk
- 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
- 1 Tablespoon Mustard (it called for Dijon but I just used regular)
- 1-½ teaspoon Salt
Mix together in a sauce pan until butter is melted and it starts to thicken. Pour over chicken in pan.
For the topping I just did dry bread crumbs and parsley. But it turned out a little too dry and messy so I think next time I will follow the recipe and mix the following together before sprinkling them on top:
- 6 Tablespoons Butter
- 1-½ cup Bread Crumbs
- ¾ teaspoons Seasoning Salt
- 1-½ teaspoon Crushed Dried Parsley
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. My chicken was still slightly frozen so I baked it for about 50 minutes and it was perfect!
