This year our tree theme is "The Nativity" and as with each year we make homemade ornaments for the tree. This is the Star Sheet Music Ornament I made using the Antiqued Paper I made. (see the link for my post how to make the paper) These ornaments were extremely cheap to make and turned out so cute! Here's how to make them:
After making the Antique Paper I printed off a star and cut it out to use as a stencil. If you're good at freehand this isn't necessary, but I get too critical of my freehand abilities so a stencil saves me time.
Next I traced the star onto the antiqued paper, and tried to place them so that parts of the song were visible in the star. The song I had printed off on the paper before antiquing was Away in a Manger.
After cutting out the antiqued paper I then put the vinyl nativity sticker on it. I was able to trade a friend some Tupperware for a TON of these nativity vinyl stickers. I think I got close to 100 in 2 different styles and a few different sizes for about $30. So- super cheap.
Then I cut out some cardboard from a box I had and made it just slightly bigger than my paper star. (this was more freehand, so you can see what I mean how I'm not gifted in the freehand cutting)
To get the bumpy part to show just peel off the paper part of one side of the cardboard. This can be a labor of love if your paper doesn't cooperate, but worth it in the end.
I used glue dots to attach the star to the cardboard, punched a hole in the top and used twine to hang it.
Done and easy!
