Are you usually the last one to hear about things? Well no longer! This post is a review of a new social marketing company that is only a year old and already rising the ranks of being a big company! Modere (pronounced Moe-deer) offers products you use every day but can purchase online, and there's all sorts of ways you can save and even make money by using their products. So check out what I thought of the products and learn more about the business side of it as well.
First let me share my review of the products I received, then I'll tell you a bit about the business (from what I know- I'm not affiliated) Here's an idea of what some of the products look like-
I got a box full of products from Holly Porter- Modere Social Marketer. The box contained the following full size products:
Shampoo & Conditioner
Shower Gel
Laundry Soap
Dishwasher Soap
Cleaning Wipes
Hair Serum
Toothpaste
Body Butter
Endurance supplements

After trying out the products, here's what I thought- the good, the bad, and the honest. (because you wouldn't expect anything less right?!?)
Shampoo & Conditioner-
The packaging is very basic- black and white containers. Very minimal graphics. Actually all of their products are this way- good or bad? could be either. When I first used the shampoo I quickly realized it needed MUCH less than I was used to using, so that's a bonus. Especially since the containers were smaller than what I normally buy. There isn't a specific scent to either the shampoo or conditioner, which maybe some people like but I love me a good smelling shampoo so I was a little disappointed in the lack of good smell. Other than that there wasn't anything noticable good or bad. It seemed to be on par with other products I've used. The fact that the shampoo seemed to go further is a plus though. I do like how the shampoo is in a white container and the conditioner is in a black one- that makes it easy to tell them apart.
Oh and side note- these are sealed VERY well, one seal on the inside lid and another seal on the outside lid, so if you're like me and forget to take the seals off until you're in the shower and wet be prepared to exercise your patience and nail picking skills!
Shower Gel-
Again, basic design for the container. It actually looked a lot like the shampoo container since they were both white I could see how they could be mixed up (see experience below). Of all the products this was the one I was least impressed with. It had maybe a very faint citrus smell to it, but that's all. Honestly I couldn't tell a difference between it and any other shower gel, but the lack of good smell would probably make me use a different brand. But again, some people may want unscented so good or bad?
Laundry Soap-
LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! Did I say I LOVED it yet?? I got the pods in the lavender scent which I was nervous about at first because normally I don't care for lavender scent. But I really like the smell of this soap. Oh and as far as cleaning the clothes- A-MAZ-ING!! Our clothes came out cleaner than they do normally with other soaps I've tried. Plus the pods are so easy- no measuring or mess you just pop 1 (or 2 if you're doing a big load) in and start the machine. I give this product 2 thumbs up and highly recommend you try it out!
Dishwasher Soap-
Sadly I can't give a review on this product since our dishwasher has been broke for a few months. But if it's anything like the laundry soap I'm excited to try it out when we get a new dishwasher!
Cleaning Wipes-
I am normally a Clorox Wipes person so that is the standard I hold cleaning wipes to. (and refuse to use the Lysol wipes- but that's another story) The Modere cleaning wipes are in a smaller container, the smell is a fresh lemon scent which is great, but the biggest thing I noticed was how they were slightly thicker than clorox wipes and had more of a quilted pattern on them which gave more scrubbing ability. I like them! Will I replace my Clorox Wipes for these? I'm not sure yet- mostly because I buy the Clorox ones in bulk (with 6 kids bulk wipes are necessity!) and these are a smaller container.
Hair Serum-
I've never used hair serum before so I'm not even sure what it's supposed to do really. But I can tell you that when I used this Modere Hair Serum my hair seemed more shiny (but not greasy) and less frizzy- which is very important with natural curls like mine. The only thing I didn't like is the container it comes in doesn't seal well so there's always a oily residue around the lid and top of the container and sometimes even in the area where you keep the serum.
Toothpaste-
The morning after receiving my box I was excited to try out the tooth paste.... so I put some on my brush and started brushing. Right away I noticed 2 things- 1: it didn't have a mint flavor like it claimed to, in fact it didn't really have any flavor. and 2: it didn't lather up like normal toothpastes do. A few seconds later I realized it had more of an oily texture to it...... different for a toothpaste. It was about this time that I realized I had put the toothpaste in the shower and what I was now brushing my teeth with was the body butter!!! Well, my teeth and gums were REALLY sleek and moisturized that day. Needless to say I learned the body butter doesn't have a bad taste. But it would be my highest recommendation for Modere to package the two tubes that are the same size, color, and design, differently. I can imagine what toothpaste would be like as body butter (minty fresh skin?) so I'm glad my swap was the other way around!
So when I actually tried the toothpaste and not the body butter it was fine. Nice minty flavor, normal lather. What my hubby is really excited about is that there is no fluoride in it! (yea he's one of those anti-fluoride peeps)
Body butter-
Well I can for sure say it doesn't have a bad taste and if you do happen to use it as toothpaste your teeth will be sleek and extra moist for the day.
As for using it as body butter I noticed it has a delicious coconut smell to it! (too bad it didn't taste like it) It really smells good- and I'm picky about smells! I don't normally use lotions or body butters because I don't like the greasy feeling- mostly between my fingers. But the body butter absorbed quickly into my skin leaving it feeling soft but not oily. And this is going to be an odd description- but it also made my skin feel thicker- ok that's weird I know, but it's the only way I could describe it. It moisturized and felt like it strengthened my skin. I really like it! And bonus, it smells fabulous!
Endurance Supplements-
I think these are going to be a product that will take a little longer usage before being able to give a honest full experience of them. And "oops" I read on the bottle after taking one that you're supposed to consult your doctor first if you are nursing or pregnant- since I'm nursing these will have to be tested by my husband! But according to the bottle there's a rare herb used in traditional Chinese medicine in them: Cordyceps, which is supposed to increase vitality and boost endurance especially for athletes. We shall see...... we did get a trampoline recently- maybe I should test the hubby's endurance out on it.
Now for the business side of it- You can watch this video that will tell you all about it- it's long but it should answer all your questions! If you've ever wanted to get in on the ground (or close to) level of a successful business this is it and now is the time.
Congrats to Holly who won a trip to Cancun from Modere!!! Have fun in the sun for a week!
She's qualified for lots of prizes and cash from Modere already- it's awesome!
