My niece is getting married next weekend and I offered to help with the centerpieces. As we were discussing ideas I remembered seeing a pin on Pinterest of painted mason jars. Actually it was quite a few pins, apparently it's a pretty trendy thing right now. She loved the idea so we ran with it!I have to say they turned out pretty darn cute!!!
Watch my instagram for pictures of them at the reception with flowers etc. to get the full effect.
I LOVE them! I seriously want to make a bunch for myself- I have no idea what to use them for- but they're stinkin cute!
If you're thinking of making some here's some tips and tricks we found helpful:
It's easier to pour plenty of paint inside the jar and roll it around then dump out the excess then to use the paint sparingly. (took for-EVE-er to coat the jar rolling bit by bit)
Brushing it in the jar left streak marks- which if you were going to put a candle or light inside might look cool with the light shining through the streaks, but we were going for a different effect.
We added glitter around the bottom by brushing on mod poge then rolling the bottom in glitter on a plate. (if you go the glitter route be prepared to see glitter in your house for the rest of your life)
The paint can be toll (acrylic) or we used normal paint from the paint department at Walmart- the worker there custom matched the colors we needed and we got a quart of each since we were doing so many jars. No need to get gloss or semi gloss because it's on the inside of the jar so the outside will be shiny.
