Since my last name is "Mason" all of our jars are "Mason" jars! hahaha ok but all joking aside, using Mason jars in decorating is a big trend lately. Since I'm working on making more holiday decorations for my house I figured what the heck and made these Easter Mason jars.To get the gloss/chalk effect I first painted the inside of the jars. I love that these can be for Spring and Easter both!
*Note- do NOT use a brush or you will see brush lines. What you want to do is pour some paint inside the jar and roll it around. It does use more paint, but the end result looks so much better it's worth it.
I squirt a little paint in at a time and roll it around and once it looks like it needs more I'll squirt a little bit more in. That way you don't end up with a inch deep puddle of paint at the bottom of your jar when you're done that will take weeks to dry.
Since the first paint is all on the inside you don't really have to wait for the jars to dry before doing the next step, but you can if you're afraid of getting paint on things accidentally.
I cut out some chevron, stripes and vinyl dots with my silhouette. (seriously, if you don't have one of these machines GET ONE!)
Once I placed the vinyl on the jars I just brushed on the same color of paint. It dries pretty fast.
After it dries just peel off the vinyl and you'll have the glossy/chalky look.
After a day or so of drying I glued ribbon on the top and done!
