The 12 days of Christmas: Day 12

It's here! Today is the last day of our 12 days of Christmas.  Tomorrow is Christmas day.  I hope that the stories we've shared have brought the Christmas spirit into your home and helped spread a little bit more of Christmas cheer! Merry Christmas! (tonight would be a great night to read the story of the birth of Jesus)

Treat/gift idea: Candy Canes

Story:

The Legend of the Candy Cane

Many years ago, a candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would help people remember the true meaning of Christmas.

He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy: white to symbolize

the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock,

the foundation of the church, and firmness of the promises of God.

The candy maker made the candy in the form of a “J”

to represent the precious name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. It also represents the Good Shepherd’s staff with which He reaches down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs that have gone astray.

Lastly, the candy maker added red stripes to symbolize the blood Jesus shed so that each of us can repent and return to live with Him some day.

For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, the candy cane still stands as a witness of the true meaning of Christmas.
