After watching a recent episode of Hell's Kitchen where the contestants were challenged to make a unique gourmet burger we wanted to experiment with this ourselves! After all, burgers and Summer go hand in hand! However, since we didn't want to (and physically couldn't) eat multiple full size hamburgers, we made gourmet sliders instead. It was perfect! Here's the recipes we tried:First, for the buns I made some Rhodes rolls. I got distracted though so they got raised a little more then I was shooting for- oh well, still tasted great! And worked for our experiment.
We made 3 different sliders. I took 3 bowls and divided up the ground beef equally. Then added our ingredients to each one.
Slider #1-
Pictured in the top.
This was a take on a BLT- I mixed 1 egg, 3-4 slices of bacon chopped(uncooked), and chopped green onions into the ground beef. Then formed it into sliders, cooked, and on the roll we placed a slice of tomato.
These were most of my family's favorite!
Slider #2-
Pictured in the bottom right.
I called this one our California slider.
In the ground beef I added 1 egg and some chopped bacon (uncooked). Mix them together, and then form your sliders and cook them.
For the special sauce- I pulled out 2 avocado halves from my freezer, microwaved them for a minute then mashed them and added a little mayo to make an amazing avocado/mayo spread.
Then I put a good spoon full of this spread on each slider in it's bun. This was probably my favorite one!
Slider #3
Bottom left in the picture.
I mixed in chopped mushrooms and onions with an egg into the ground beef. Form a slider and cook. These were pretty tasty, but in comparison to the other two not as good. But come on, the other two both had bacon! So I don't think this one really stood a chance from the start :) It was still pretty good!
Hope you enjoy these as much as we did!! This may become a monthly tradition- it was so fun experimenting!
